The Origin of Sin - Part 9

So then, What is Sin?
By Bro.Thomas Chakkalackal PMP, MSc, M.S

Mark 2: 22
No one sews a piece of unshrunk cloth on an old garment; or else the new piece pulls away from the old, and the tear is made worse. 22 And no one puts new wine into old wineskins; or else the new wine bursts the wineskins, the wine is spilled, and the wineskins are ruined. But new wine must be put into new wineskins.”

I am going to end this series of devotional on "The origin of Sin" by explaining What is Sin?

The actual sin is a mindset of  " I don't have it now, I will have it by what I do", OR  "I don't have it now, I will have it by my prayer, fasting, sowing, good works etc". This "I don't have it now" mentality among the born again believer's, when we have Jesus in us is due to the lack of knowledge about their true identity in Christ Jesus. According to the new covenant, the faith is always now [Hebrew 11:1] and must be directed towards the perfect work of Jesus on the cross. Many are believing that their faith is something directed towards their future to grab the stuff's that they need in life. If everything we need in life was already provided on the cross 2000 years ago, our faith must be directed towards the past, not to the future. The faith of Jesus is given to every believer to believe who they are in Christ Jesus, and to uproot the law mindset [ I don't have it now, I will have it by what I do] from their thought pattern.

Many in the kindgdom are still promoting this forbidden or fallen mindset of "I don't have it now, I will have it by my prayer, fasting, sowing, good works etc"  through their preachings and teachings etc. This kind of teaching is a carry over from the Old Testament mindset, and it will lead you to the Tree of the knowledge of good and evil [Human wisdom]. The Old Testament believer's had this mindset of "I don't have it now, I will have it by my prayer, tithing, fasting, sacrifices, observing all the laws, and good works etc" , and it was ideal for them, since they were living before the perfect work on the cross.  The work on the cross by Jesus was to make us a new creation, who lacks nothing. This new creation took place only in our spirit and this new spirit is our resource for the abundant life. Nothing happend to our soul and body yet, although the work is completed for the soul and body on the cross, so we may feel lack in our five senses. It is our responsiblity to work out the perfection in our born again spirit to our soul and body [Phil 2:12], by renewing our mind.

I would like you to ask this question to yourself

Am I a  believer who is  led by what I feel in my  five senses ?

                                                                                                          OR

Am I a  believer who is led by what the Word of God says about me?

I am not advocating believer's to ignore their five senses. These senses are given by God for a purpose, and it must be used only for the purpose it meant for, to sense the disorder around us and in our flesh. Ignoring your five senses does not mean that you are walking in faith, as some believes.  When our five senses transmit a message of lack, pain etc, open the tap of our new spirit and supply the lack or remedy. What ever the law demands, the Grace already provided, this principle is applicable here, whatever the five senses demands, the provision is already in our born again spirit.  Ephesians 4:19 says that "My God shall supply all your needs according to His riches and glory in Christ ".

The Father, Son and the Holy Spirit dwell in our born again spirit  [John 14:23] and all HIS riches are in our born again spirit [2 Corin 4:7], and we are one spirit with God [ I Cor 6:17]. Our "will"  is the decision maker to live by the spirit or by the five senses, and God will not violate your free will choice. Our "will' take decisions based on the information collected in our mind. If our  mind is full of informations about the Old Testament legal requirements to earn righteousness with God by self effort, we will tend to live a life led by our five senses. If our mind is full of information about the fullfillment of the Law, Perfect work on the Cross, Our identity in Christ, we will tend to live a life led by our spirit.

Put off your identity from Adam and put on your identity in Christ Jesus - Don't ever live like a schizophrenic Christian, by living between two covenants.  You cannot provide what the law demands by self effort . Put your whole hearted attention to Jesus and His cross, He will transform you!
