The Origin of Sin - Part 1

Genesis 3:4-5
Then the serpent said to the woman, “You will not surely die. 5 For God knows that in the day you eat of it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil.”

Humanity fell under sin when Adam ate the forbidden fruit in the Garden of Eden.  What is the actual sin they committed? You will say disobedience to one and the only commandment of God “Though shall not eat the fruit from the knowledge of Good and Evil” is the sin that caused man to fall. For the last 2000 years, we have been hearing about the consequence of “disobedience” from all the church pulpits.  But very few preachers reveal the mindset that led Adam and Eve to the disobedience.

I believe it is worth to dig deeper into the Word to find out what led them to this greatest disobedience. Let us look into the mindset that led Adam and Eve to violate God’s one and the only commandment “Though shall not eat the fruit from the knowledge of Good and Evil”. We know from Genesis 1:26 that man was created in the image and likeness of God. The serpent also tempted them with the desire to become like God.  The temptation to become like God, when they are already in the likeness of God is called “deception”.  The serpent imparted a mindset or pattern of thinking into Eve's mind which says “I am not now, I will be by my own self effort independent of God”.  Adam and Eve knew very well that they will be separated from the life of God if they eat the forbidden fruit. The desire to become like God without the indwelling presence of God in them is the root cause of the sin.

Adam and Eve were created in the image and likeness of God; they don’t have to do any self effort to become like god. Any self effort that we do to “become like we already are” is an abomination to God.  This mindset of “I don’t have it now, I will have it by my own self effort without the indwelling presence of God” will lead you to the Tree of the knowledge of Good and Evil.  Any self effort that “we do to become like we already are” is called dead works, the work without the life of God. Many Christians are engaged in the dead works ignorantly, not realizing that their self effort is at the expense of the indwelling presence of God. I believe it is better to do nothing than engaged in dead works.

Any preaching or teaching that imparts or create a mindset of “I don’t have it, I have to earn from God by my own self effort” is satanic.  If you are born again, you already got all that God can offer (Jesus). All you need is an enlightenment of what you already got through Jesus and tap into it. My friend don’t be under the deception of the devil, dig deeper into what you already got in Jesus and praise Him for the perfect work on the cross. You are complete in Him, You are blessed with ALL the spiritual blessing, you are healed, and You are prospered.  Awake to that reality and just believe, let the nature of God in you lead you to do good works.

Dont let the preachers get you in the mindset that you have to do something to get blessed, healed, prospered and holy.
